Tea for Two: Dilmah Teas Review and Giveaway!

*GIVEAWAY CLOSED, WILL ANNOUNCE WINNER SOON.

Dear Readers,

I am hosting a giveaway for Dilmah Teas.  You have the opportunity to win a set of 4 Dilmah Single Estate Tea Collection. The giveaway is open to U.S. entries 18+.

Dilmah Teas recently sent me an assorted variety of tea bags and boxes of teas, below. I am an avid tea drinker (2-3 cups per day) and I am often going to my local grocery store to find new teas to try. I was very pleased with Dilmah! I love their assortment. My favorite was the peach. When brewing the tea, do not forget to follow the directions on the box that explain brewing times, otherwise the flavor will be too overpowering. I really enjoyed their tea and will be looking out for them in my local supermarket or Whole Foods.

Dilmah is the third largest global tea brand, with availability for purchase in 92 countries. The company was founded in 1974 by Merrill J. Fernando. I greatly appreciate that this is an ethical tea brand made from the finest tea leaves. They grow their own tea and they package it fresh at the source. Visit their website to learn more.

Dilmah Tea Flavors include caramel, peach, vanilla, green tea and  English breakfast

Below is a photo of what you could win. The description is as follows:

Dilmah Single Estate Tea - Doombagastalawa (20 tea bags)
Tasting Notes Dark golden brown with a biscuity taste. Medium bodied, deliciously dry and generous. Analogous to a Syrah grown in warm but not hot climate areas, on steeper hill slopes facing the sun. A handsome and impeccable tea.

Lover’s Leap is named after the tragic legend of two young lovers who leapt from the top of a picturesque waterfall on the estate. Tasting Notes Light brown-yellow with green nuances. Bright, breezy, effortlessly light and snappy yet with tannins of fortitude. Long lasting in aftertaste. Like Champagne made from cool climate grapes picked just before they get too ripe. An exquisite and alluring tea.

Known for producing the finest low country tea, Nilagama is an estate of just under 1,000 hectares. Tasting Notes Dark brown almost chocolatey and ripe tasting tea. Round tannins, full bodied, with a big structure and fleshy. Like Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on flat lands and lower altitudes, with lots of sun. An authentic, suave and stately tea.

Somerset is in the famous Dimbula Valley on the Western slopes of Sri Lanka’s Tea Country. Tasting Notes Medium brown with tints of orange. An almost savory taste. Fruity, exotic perfume with a ‘balance’ in taste from the ample tannins, strong but not brooding. Comparable to a Pinot Noir wine made from grapes grown in cool climates. A tea that is delicate, radiant and elegant.

This series represents qualities of select tea gardens from low elevation tea to the teas grown at the highest mountain elevations.  The unique aspects of a place - climate, soil and topography influences and shapes the tea made there and gives it a specific personality.
All these teas have been compared to Champagne, Pinot Noit, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon due to their texture and fragrance and varieties.
